Oberlin

Got the results of my preference list for next year. Even though they changed everything and made everyone list 3 of the universities they least want to go to, and having about a paragraph to write as much as you can under "Other Information" I did a free for all and just stated why I wanted J.F Oberlin (Obirin) so bloody bad.

Well I got it. And I can not be anymore blessed. It's a uni I wanted so bad because it's a private Christian university and it's in Machida City, Western Tokyo and is about 40 minute train ride away from Central Tokyo. It's basically me living in the west of Sydney, so yeah I've pretty much changed countries but still in the same suburbs haha (totally kidding).

The uni also has so many subjects to offer being taught in English and the housing are so spacious, clean and relatively new. It comes with a price. $660 a month which is about $165 a week. That's really expensive considering we have partner universities where you can live in the dorms for $150 a month! But again, I have the best family ever because they've agreed to pay for 2/3 of my rent. My brother and mum are sending $100 a week which is $400 a month, so all I have to pay is $260 a month. DEAL I'll take it! I couldn't be anymore content with that!

My savings for Japan have been continuously increasing. I live a poor life trying to survive with about $200 a fortnight, and it's HARD. Constantly being out of the house everyday and travelling to the city, it's so hard! Especially with birthdays and dinners. I have to sacrifice a lot in the next few months. I need to cut myself from dinners and outings. I just hope a lot of people understand that and I'm doing this for my dream.

So what's left for me is to officially apply to the uni, which will be breezy since getting your preference is guarantee entrance (I hope I'm not kidding myself lol). Argh this thing is becoming more real and I'm scaring the hell outta myself!

Love/Hate Relationship

I have the biggest love/hate relationship with Blogger. I have the biggest phases with it, and then I completely die from it. But I'm coming back because I don't want to annoy my Tweeters my loserish complaints about my Japan trip. It's next year! Hoohah hoohah.

My last post about Japan, I said my future home was going to be Yokohama National University. Well things have changed. Had our first ICS meeting and the coordinators basically said the uni they don't want us to go to is that one. "It's exactly like UTS. There are a lot of international students and you will never use one bit of Japanese" haha sensei then said "People go there, and come back with better English" Such an anticlimax. But that's okay since I fell in love with another Uni.

J.F. Oberlin University. I'm in love with their mission statement and the fact that it's a Christian University. It's like it was made for me! I also spent maybe 2 hours watching this Vlogger who's over there now. I linked you guys maybe the most irrelevant video about the Uni instead about the city it's in but I'm in love with that guy whos' touring them around. Yosuke. What a cutie.

But I'm trying to be real since they've changed the procedure on how they give you the university you want. It's not listing the top 3 uni's you want to go to, but the LEAST 3 unis. So they can place you in about 9 other unis of their choosing. So heartbreaking. But I'm prepared haha.

Anyway I also have to prove I have 12k to the Japanese government in 6 months time. LOL WHAT. I know I don't have that money, but I'm saving every single penny I have. In future if I don't come out, be understanding... I'm a poor mofo with a huge savings haha. I need to also pay for my new passport.

SO much money going down the drain. But all be worth it in 12 months time.

Future Home?

First preference, Yokohama National University. Half an hour away from Tokyo. Are you going to be my new home for one year? Will you fulfill my dream the way I imagined it? Will this place make it all worth the hard work for a bigger savings account? For basically stopping and putting on hold a life in Sydney, will you fulfill the same things here? So much to think about, so much to read, so much to consider so I can put my preferences correct later this semester. Need to write one of the best statements because getting your first preference... a chance close to 20%!
I want it so bad!
